Be extra careful in disabling the services that you do not need or use. If you are in doubt of the application, do not disable them. Wrong disabling of services can lead to dangerous effects and unexpected problems that cannot be detected right away. Look for experts in the field to let them do the services for you.
6. Hasten the processing time by turning off those fancy graphics included in the Windows XP software.
7. Ensure that a firewall is turned on and in the right location. Most of the viruses and spyware can disable the firewall. Install only one firewall to avoid conflict. If you had found out that the firewall is not active, activate it by going to the Start Menu, click Control Panel and check if the Windows Firewall is green.
